New figures reveal nearly FORTY reconnaissance planes were flown into the UK by NATO allies last year to help patrol our seas. The US dispatched maritime aircraft to RAF Lossiemouth twenty times, Canada eight, Germany five, France five and Norway once.
Probably shouldn’t have scrapped the Nimrods without first securing replacements!
But hang on, the MOD have moved with considerable speed (think arthritic slugs on speed) to buy new ones in the form of Nine P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft for the RAF. With the first aircraft due to arrive in the UK in 2019/2020.
That’s nice, it being 2017.
You can see why the UK’s forces have the nickname ‘The Borrowers’ can’t you?
